HabitatLedger

Keep your wildlife exemption. Skip the shoebox.

Log your wildlife practices from the pasture, snap your feed and fencing receipts, and print your county annual report in one tap. Built in Texas for Texas landowners with a wildlife tax valuation.

Launching before the 2027 reporting season. Early-access landowners get their first year at the founding price.

Why it matters

Your wildlife valuation saves you real money. Losing it costs more.

3 of 7 practicesYour plan commits you to at least three approved wildlife practices every year, and you need proof you did them.
Report when askedYour appraisal district can ask for an annual report on the state form, and can inspect your land.
Rollback taxesLose the valuation and you can owe back taxes on full market value. Good records are your protection.

Features

Everything for your annual report, in your pocket

No binders, no spreadsheets, no digging through the truck console in April.

All 7 practices

Habitat control, erosion control, predator control, supplemental water, food and shelter, and census counts, each with its own simple log.

Receipts that read themselves

Snap a photo at the feed store counter. Habitat Ledger reads the store, date and total, and files it under the right practice.

Photo proof, dated and mapped

Every photo is stamped with the date and where on the property it was taken, ready if the county ever inspects.

Annual report in one tap

Your activities fill in the state's wildlife annual report (PWD-888) for you. Print it, sign it, turn it in.

Year-end tax summary

Every expense totaled by category and property, with all your receipts in one file for your accountant.

Works in the pasture

No signal by the back tank? Log it anyway. Everything saves on your phone and uploads when you're back in range.

How it works

Three steps, done before the deadline sneaks up

Add your property

Enter your county, acreage and the practices in your wildlife plan. It takes about five minutes.

Log as you go

Fill a feeder, fix a trough, run a spotlight count: tap, snap a photo, done. Snap receipts the same way.

Print your report

When the county asks, your annual report is already filled in. At year end, send your accountant the tax summary.

Year-end tax summary

One tap in January. Your accountant will thank you.

Questions

Frequently asked

What is a Texas wildlife exemption?

It's the common name for the 1-d-1 open-space valuation based on wildlife management. Land that qualified for an agricultural valuation can switch to managing for native wildlife and keep the lower property tax value, as long as you follow a wildlife management plan.

Do I need an approved wildlife plan to use it?

Habitat Ledger is built for landowners with a wildlife plan on file with their appraisal district. If you're switching from ag now, you can start logging right away so your records are ready for your first report.

Does it file the report for me?

It fills in the state's annual report form (PWD-888) from your logs. You review it, sign it and turn it in to your county appraisal district, the same way you do now.

Does it work without cell service?

Yes. Log activities and take photos anywhere on the property. Everything uploads once you're back in range.

Can my wildlife consultant or accountant see my records?

Yes, if you choose. Share a read-only link with your consultant, or send your accountant the year-end summary in one tap.

Is this tax advice?

No. Habitat Ledger organizes your records and receipts. Your tax professional and your appraisal district have the final say.
